Community Support Program

Adults receiving MFIP add valuable work experience to their resume and make steps toward economic opportunity and equity.

The Tree Trust Community Support Program operates on referral only. Employment Counselors refer residents of Minneapolis or suburban Hennepin County receiving assistance through the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP). Tree Trust shares the mutual goal with MFIP to help parents move to financial stability through work.

Tree Trust staff connect program participants to unpaid or paid work experiences throughout the Twin Cities at employer worksites. We collaborate with business, nonprofit, and government agency partners. Participants develop valuable transferrable skills, gain resume-building experiences, and try out new industries. These industries include administrative assistance, childcare, customer service, retail, landscaping, food service, housekeeping, and healthcare.

Eligibility Guidelines

To be eligible for the Community Support Program, participants must be:

  • A parent over the age of 18
  • A resident of Minneapolis or suburban Hennepin County
  • Currently receiving assistance through the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
