Community Stewardship

Community Stewardship – Call for Volunteers

When communities unite in stewardship, the results are extraordinary. At Tree Trust, we are planting the future of a greener Minnesota, and we need your help! This fall, we invite you to join us in the Twin Cities metro area as we distribute and plant trees. Even if you cannot plant trees on your own property, you can still help by volunteering. Let’s embrace the crisp autumn air, work side by side, and build a legacy of sustainability that will benefit generations to come. Follow along to learn more about how Tree Trust is working to plant and distribute 10,500 trees this year, and discover exciting opportunities to volunteer.

Sourcing Well-Established trees

When our Community Forestry team is not planting, they are planning. If you have purchased a tree from a Tree Trust sale or volunteered at a tree planting, the trees are waiting for you upon arrival. Our Community Forestry team works hard behind the scenes to make this happen. Diverse varieties of trees that are well-established (at least 4-7 years old) are thoughtfully sourced from local vendors and delivered by the semi-truck load. Before trees arrive to their forever homes they are unloaded and sorted. Due to the high volume of trees needed for tree sales, we often have trees delivered directly to event sites. This provides an excellent opportunity for volunteers to lend a hand unloading tree shipments and creatively fitting trees into vehicles.

Supporting Longtermism – Community Stewardship

Longtermism is the idea that future generations matter and that actions taken today can impact the sustainability of a brighter future. This “ism” echoes the popular quote by Nelson Henderson: “The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” Helping unload trees for other people to purchase and plant is a fantastic way to support this sentiment. We need volunteers like you to assist with our tree unload and distribution events at Tree Trust! Want to help green the Twin Cities? With every volunteer shift worked you are actively helping to steward a more vibrant future for Minnesota.

Finding Forever Homes – The Planting Process

Tree Trust supports longtermism by planting each tree with care and precision. We even made a video to guide you on how to plant your tree the Tree Trust way. Just like us, different trees thrive in different environments. Want to learn more about different tree species? Community planting events provide an amazing opportunity to ask questions. Our team loves talking about trees as much as they enjoy teaching you how to plant them. You don’t even have to get your hands dirty; every volunteer gets a free pair of Tree Trust gloves.
