Join the Community Forestry team for an engaging conversation about White Birch, Red Hawthorn, by Nora Murphy. We will dig into the author’s exploration of Minnesota’s history of displacement, and discuss how to reconcile the past and find meaningful connection with the land where we live.

- Apply for Tree Trust’s Summer Youth Employment Program, for ages 14-21!
Pruning Workshop: Making the Cut
Saturday, February 8, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Join us to learn about the basics of structural pruning for young trees. Pruning is best done in the middle of winter, at least two years after planting. We will discuss how to choose the proper tools and what cuts to make for structural integrity and tree health. Beginners welcome! If you planted a tree in 2022, this workshop is for you! All tools will be provided. This will be an outdoor event, please dress for the weather.

Tree Identification Walk

Join us for an informative stroll around the mini arboretum located at Horton Park! Learn some basic tree identification skills from Tree Trust experts, test your skills, and hear about the state of urban forestry in the Twin Cities. We will learn all about Minnesota’s native trees, in addition to a few newer species being planted for climate resilience.
Please note, there are no public restrooms at this park. Please plan accordingly.
Community Tree Care Party

Help spruce up the neighborhood by caring for the trees that we planted in the last few years in St. Louis Park! Join your neighbors and local tree experts from Tree Trust to water, weed, and mulch trees. After the trees are taken care of, we will celebrate with a community celebration including snacks and crafts. This event is a great volunteering opportunity for families and small groups.
Please list children’s names on their accompanying adult’s ticket. Please wear outdoor clothing that can get dirty, closed-toe shoes or boots, and bring a refillable water bottle.
