Youth & Young Adult Services

Youth & Young Adult Services serves youth ages 16-24 with priority given to 18-24 year olds, who live in Hennepin County (primarily suburban) and is here to assist individuals in the following areas:

- Explore career opportunities and career planning
– Short and long term educational and/or career goals
– Internships and/or paid work experience
– Gain employment and job search skills
– Prepare for job placement in a field of interest
– Earn wages at an internship or employment experience
- Enrollment in a technical credentialing program

- Obtaining industry recognized credentials
– Financial assistance for tuition and/or books
– Financial assistance for short term certifications or trainings
– Completion of high school education or GED
– Prepare for the ACT
– College applications and financial aid forms


Participants are connected with a case manager who specializes in employment and education needs. Youth and young adults receive customized services designed to prepare them for work, life, and their futures. Case managers facilitate year-round classes, one-on-one meetings and work experiences where youth and young adults learn how to apply and interview for jobs, meet their employer’s expectations, get ready for their careers, and find services they need and transition successfully into adult, working life.

Eligible participants include any youth who is living in Hennepin County (primarily suburban), between the ages of 16-24, and who has encountered any of the following barriers to education or employment:

- Low income
– Behind grade levels in math and/or reading
– Have a disability
– Have an IEP
– High School dropout
– Homeless, runaway, or foster child
– Pregnant or parenting
– Interaction with the legal system

Costs & Contacts

There is no cost to participate in Youth & Young Adult Services. The program is offered free to eligible participants through federal, state, and local funding.
